Activity corners financed by the Fondation Ste Zithe are gradually being created in all living areas at the Seniorie Ste Zithe Contern. After all, our body is not simply the shell of our mind, but plays a major role in our well-being and self-image.
For each living area, the therapeutic team of the Seniorie developed concepts according to the needs of the residents in order to design areas that invite them to move and train their own abilities. Different offers promote and maintain gross and fine motor skills, finger sensitivity, balance, endurance and cognitive abilities. One can also train specifically the cardiovascular system. Physical exercise and exertion bring joy and strengthen the body and psyche. The residents get a holistic support and can cope with the challenges of everyday life more easily.
Until now, the availability of appointments, premises and therapists or the nursing staff limited the possibility to have training sessions. Spontaneous, playful units in social interaction with other residents were unfortunately not possible. The new offers in the living areas are now open to the residents at any time and can also be used together with friends and family.
The nursing staff on the floors will motivate the residents to use the offers and thus consolidate the results of individual therapeutic measures. This multidisciplinary teamwork for the well-being of the residents can increase the effectiveness of medically necessary treatments already offered by occupational therapists and physiotherapists and significantly improve the general well-being.
For all the positive health effects, however, these areas should above all be fun and a leisure activity that puts a smile on faces.
The project costs amount to approximately 40.000 euros.
On behalf of the residents of the Seniorie, we would like to thank all the donors who make this project possible.
